Psychedelic music videos

Posted on September 5, 2018 By Team SPark

It’s only Wednesday and you are already wrung out? Worry not. Groove out to these psychedelic videos guaranteed to give you an instant giddy high and pick you right up. So turn the volume up, hit full-screen and zone out to these trippy music videos.

5) “ Water Fountain”-tUnE-yArDs

LINK: https://youtu.be/jbiFcPhccu8

If you don’t already know of this song, it was featured in the ad for Google pixel and was included in the soundtrack for FIFA 15. This song has one of the most unsettling music videos on this list. Unsettling due to the sheer weirdness of it. Despite the bizarreness, the chorus is incredibly catchy and is going to be stuck in your head for days to come.

4) “Cirrus”-Bonobo

LINK: https://youtu.be/WF34N4gJAKE

Save this one for when you want to relax. “Cirrus” is an instrumental piece from Bonobo with an uplifting beat and an incredibly trippy video. Featuring sounds of a truck brake, dropped coins and such, Bonobo has made an interesting melody from all kinds of unexpected sounds. The video has a surrealistic vibe that you are bound to enjoy. It’s impressively detailed and will make you pity the computer that had to process it during rendering.

ALSO CHECK OUT: “Kerala”-By Bonobo. Again, an instrumental masterpiece accompanied by a really intelligent yet trippy video. It depicts the struggle in the mind of a panic-driven woman trying to keep a grip on her sanity.

3) “Floridada”-Animal Collective

LINK: https://youtu.be/cuoIvNFUY7I

Animal Collective has one of the most unique music styles out there. It’s well depicted in “Floridada”, featuring overlapping vocals and an atypical mix of instruments. The visuals are sure to make you question the animator’s state of mind while making it. Due to its eccentric sound, this song may not be for everybody. But give it a chance and it’s going to be stuck in your head the third time you listen to it. You are either going to hate it, or break the replay button. There’s no in between.

2) “SOURCE”-Fever The Ghost

LINK : https://youtu.be/9RHFFeQ2tu4

This is probably the wackiest one on the list. The cartoony animation style perfectly compliments the psychedelic aesthetic of the song. The animation is well timed to the beats. The whole video has a surreal feel to it. It’s set in a fantasy world where a tiny old man must travel with his pet dragon to the centre of their hilly planet and flick a switch to turn their planet into a disco ball. Sounds pretty bizarre right? But watch the video and I’m sure you will come to love it.

1) “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards”-Tame Impala

LINK : https://youtu.be/wycjnCCgUes

One of the more well-known artists on this list, Tame Impala is the torch-bearer of modern psychedelic music genre. This song is sure to drown you in a plethora of emotions in typical Tame Impala style. The video itself is a delectable visual treat with perfect synchronization between the beats and the animation. You will find yourself taking a screenshot every other second. It’s truly a piece of modern psychedelic music art with beautiful visuals, sound and lyrics nailed.

Be sure to check out other songs by Tame Impala and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Fun Fact: If you have ever been on the weird side of YouTube, you may be interested to know that this video was also directed by directors of “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” series. If you don’t know about it, do yourself a favour and don’t google it.
