We are back with this year’s refresh of best Android/iOS games to download! Be it on your commute or your couch, we are confident these games will keep you immersed. Read on to know our picks for 2017.
Monument Valley 2
DEveloper: UStwo Games
The sequel to the award-winning Monument Valley(which if you haven’t played yet, we pity you) introduces the child of the original protagonist Ida. The gameplay has changed slightly since you now control 2 characters instead, otherwise, it plays pretty much like the original. It retains the same charm which hooked us initially – intricately designed puzzles peppered with vibrant colours, a pleasing soundtrack and some new elements, all while maintaining its geometric aestheticism.
Limbo
Developer: Playdead GAmes
Limbo is a 2D side-scrolling puzzle platformer which gives you the reins of a nameless boy who awakens in a forest, seeking his missing sister. On his dark, grayscale journey, he encounters various physical and environmental hazards like bear traps, ledges, machinery, and monsters. The game utilizes dull lighting, a grainy layout and minimal ambient sounds to forge an eerie atmosphere, which has been lauded by reviewers.
Dan The Man
Developer: Halfbrick Studios
Dan The Man is an old-fashioned beat ’em up action platformer that scratches all of your retro arcade itches, and then some. You play as Dan, the titular man, punching, kicking and jumping your way through enemy-laden levels. It blends tight controls, a fun storyline, satisfying boss-battles, an arsenal of weapons and unlockable characters into hours of silly, amusing gameplay. This one won’t disappoint, we promise.
Smash Supreme
Developer: Gumbug
At the time of writing, Smash Supreme was available for Android only with the iOS app set to release soon.
Smash Supreme is an online 3D brawler that is currently in the Early Access section of the Play Store. We have our sights set on this because while it is a fairly standard sparring game in that you can play as different characters, level up by battling and obtain stronger moves to defeat more powerful opponents, where it shines is its fluid gameplay, simple controls, and appealing graphics. It features regular tournaments and has a budding online community as well.
As we have mentioned in our previous article, some of these games are paid apps simply because the developers have spent hours polishing every last detail and ironing out bugs.
