Towards the end of the sundown, at 7pm on September 6, 2020 a Panel Discussion on Socio-Economic Projects by Enactus S.P.I.T. was conducted on the Google Meet platform. Enactus is an international non-profit organization that works for the cause of social entrepreneurship. It has teams in various colleges. Enactus S.P.I.T. came into being in the current academic year 2020-21.
The one-hour long event threw light on the socio-economic projects undertaken by the various Enactus squads. Dr. Madam Rita Das, Dean of Student Affairs and Head of the ASH department of S.P.I.T. graced the occasion with her presence. The event saw an impressive multitude of 55-60 attendees. The panelists on board were Mr Arjav Modi, President of Enactus, IIT Kanpur, Ms Sabhyata Bhateja, Student Advisory Board and Ex-President at Enactus Jesus and Mary, DU and Mr Vaibhav Gupta, Managing Director of BIT Pilani.
The speakers spoke about the concepts of selection of projects keeping in mind some facets like geography, alternatives and competitors. They also touched upon some key points during the discussion regarding the impact of Enactus and the funds needed to start at the basic scale with a proper sales channel like B2B or B2C or B2G. The speakers elucidated terms like fellowship programs, sustainability, credibility, push-talks and scalability. Some of them even recounted their episodes of meeting new people and pitching their ideas before them.
The attendees put forth some intriguing questions all of which were answered by the panelists to the satisfaction of the audience. “What are the learnings that you imbibe while working on the Enactus Projects?”, “Could you enlighten us to the major differences between entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship?”, “What are the challenges that you face with the inception of a project idea?”, “What are your insights and vision on conducting various projects in a pandemic affected world?”, “Out of the 17 goals on sustainability formulated by the United Nations, which one do you think requires the most urgent attention?” are just a few of the vexed questions asked by the very perceptive and agog audience.
Finally, as the discussion came to a close, the panelists gave their perspectives related to the UN goals. The communicative and illuminating symposium wrapped up by 8pm with a gift of appreciation to the speakers and a vote of thanks proposed by the Enactus S.P.I.T. President Ms Bhavika Vaishnavi.
“It was a great honour and pleasure to organize this event. The fervent audience and the team of passionate panelists have made this event a resounding success.”, said Praharsha Nuti, Student Mentor, Enactus SPIT.
