Freshers 2017 was an electrifying night as the first years certainly put their best foot forward. On 8th September 2017 SPIT witnessed an explosion of talent, showcasing performances by first-year students. The freshers night was wonderfully hosted by Aditya Khopkar and Sidhharth Majgaonkar. The inter-departmental group dance competition was given the perfect start by the Computer department as their dance was a rousing tribute to Lord Ganesha. Up next was EXTC who showcased engineering life through their energetic performance. MCA put up a beautiful performance on the theme ‘Retro to Metro’. While IT through their performance paid tribute to the real heroes, our soldiers. Electronic raised the entertainment quotient with electronics T.V being their theme and emerged as winners, three years in a row!
“Dancing with feet is one thing, dancing with the heart is another. They performed with all their heart, the endless practice sessions paid off” Sumedh Deshprabhu, SE electronics.
The audience was exhilarated! After the group dance, it was time for Mr and Miss freshers 2017. Mr and Miss Freshers took the excitement to another level and left everyone in awe with their singing and dancing talents. The judges were in a fix. Siddhesh Sonawane was crowned Mr. Fresher who danced amazingly on the popular female playback track-‘Pinga’, breaking the stereotypes. Apoorva Chaudhari from Computers danced elegantly and was crowned Miss Fresher.
And then it was time for all SPITians to show their dancing skills as DJ Aviat and Ani-rave were in the house. Everyone swayed to the beat in their own way, having fun and making memories. In between the dancing, one could quickly grab some delicious food and get some quirky nail art done. The night truly brought the FE’s together and forged a bond between them and their seniors.
Amidst of all the fun, one could not help but notice how beautiful the quadrangle had been decorated. The amazing lighting added a new shine to already smiling faces. The décor team truly did an amazing job. Selfies, unique dance moves, making new friends, smiles all around the Student Council sure did a fantastic job. Great food stalls, amazing music it was one memorable night.
“It was a momentous occasion when we welcomed the Freshers to be a part of the SPIT family. Despite few hurdles, we made sure that the FE’s enjoyed the party and went home with new friends and loads of memories” Neil Daftary, Technical Secretary Student Council.
A great welcome to a wonderful year indeed!
