The test of enjoyment is the remembrance which it leaves behind.
Along with having fun, certain games require skill and strategies, one must learn to play smart in order to prevail. Here is the second part of ‘Fun events’:
Mind That Word
In this event, one member was required to help the other guess a word without using a specific set of words. The first team to guess correctly won the round. Participants put on their thinking caps, for the game required not just speed, but also a skill. Peculiar explanations and guessing tactics followed. “We saw tremendous enthusiasm, to the point where participants came back for multiple rounds. The event was a grand success and we had a lot of fun organizing it.” Tarun Joseph from S.E. EXTC, an event organizer.
IPL Auction
IPL Auction proved to be one of the most intriguing events of Matrix 2k17. It saw participation from both cricket enthusiasts and non-fans alike. Each team brought a different strategy to the event while also trying to figure out the others’ approach. Needless to say, there was no shortage of excitement. “This maiden voyage of our event was an exhilarating experience! We had great fun interacting with participants, from our college as well as from outside.” Shrawani Bawage (S.E. EXTC), one of the organizers. Biddings escalated, players were lost, all teams played splendidly.
LAN Gaming
Lan Gaming was the platform to prove, all hours spent on late night gaming were not in vain. Participants competed in knockout style eliminations. The event consisted of not one, but four games- FIFA, Counter-Strike, NFS: Most wanted and Mini Militia. “We were really excited to have an unprecedented footfall of 350 this year”, said Somil Shah (S.E. IT) from the organizing team, which left no stone unturned to make this a huge success.
LAN Mafia
A computerized version of the original game ‘Mafia’, LAN Mafia turned out to be a huge success. This game was played in groups of 20. Right from the chats on the LAN Messenger to the group discussions with other participants, LAN Mafia was the perfect way to bond with other members playing. At the end, it all came down to each one’s convincing skills. “Organizing was tough, but a lot of fun and we learned how teamwork helps you develop your skill set”, said Pranav Kamath from S.E. EXTC, one of the organizers. May the best manipulator win!
The fun events of Matrix 2k17 taught its participants one thing- winning or losing doesn’t matter, what matters the most is the spirit of participation and the memories made which will be cherished for years to come!
