Believe it or not, all of us are surrounded by the world of Digital Marketing in some way or the other. But surprisingly only a handful of us are aware of the science that goes behind the advertisements that we see every day. IEEE S.P.I.T. on October 5, 2020, organized a webinar on Digital Marketing and offered solutions to those who have always had some questions on Digital Marketing.
The speaker for the session was Mr Arth Patel, a S.P.I.T. alumnus, who has completed his Masters’ in Digital Marketing from Trinity Business School. He is also the co-founder of Brainheaters and is currently working as a Digital Growth manager at UXDX. Furthermore, he has been a part of various successful Corporate and Personal Projects.
The webinar commenced at 5 pm with a short introduction of Mr Arth Patel by Mr Hargobind Singh, the Head of Events of IEEE S.P.I.T. Thereafter Mr Arth Patel went on to explain the difference between what Digital Marketing actually is and how it is perceived by the dilettantes. He then threw light on some of the banana skins which the amateurs step on while getting into this field. He emphasized the significance of implementation of knowledge rather than acquiring certificates. He encouraged the attendees to first select a domain and then actively engage themselves in some internship or a project of their own.
He listed LinkedIn as one of the key platforms to kickstart a career in Digital Marketing. He itemized the various methods by which one can benefit from LinkedIn. One such method was long-form writing i.e. blogging. Mr Patel elucidated how blogging on LinkedIn not only draws the attention of recruiters but it also teaches one various aspects of Digital Marketing, Graphic Designing, Keyword Research, Content Writing and CTA, just to name a few. He then explained the advantages of a short-form post, how video analytics can help one reach the target audience and how it might open up opportunities to get a referral.
The talk was followed by a question and answer session. When asked about the feasibility of pursuing Digital Marketing and Technology simultaneously, Mr Arth answered that students should do rapid experimentation to identify their areas of interest and that Digital Marketing can definitely be pursued along with Technology as Digital Marketing also aids in boosting one’s profile. Another intriguing question was, “Is an engineering background of any help in the field of Digital Marketing?”, to which he responded that engineering can certainly be of great help but there is always scope in the field of Digital Marketing irrespective of one’s background. When asked to share his journey on YouTube, he replied that YouTube has played a crucial role in giving him excellent exposure and has also helped him in becoming an articulate communicator.
Mr Hargobind Singh concluded the hour-long webinar with a vote of thanks, thanking Mr Arth for the insightful seminar and the audience for their enthusiam.
