SPark Recommends: Novels

With the vacations closing in and your favorite T.V series coming to an end, it is time you switch to reading books and to help you out, here are a few books that’ll keep you happily busy.

If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon
Genre: Crime Fiction

Published in the 1980’s, If Tomorrow Comes is undoubtedly a masterpiece by Sheldon. It revolves around the life of an ordinary bank-worker Tracy Whitney, who’s perfect life takes a rather squeezing twist when the bad guys from the underworld decide to frame her. Beginning with Tracy’s quest for vengeance, the book graduates into her life as a con artist. Tracy will not only portray a fierce, determined protagonist but will also become your favorite criminal. With her intelligence and beauty, both being appealing and irresistible, the book is definitely a page-turner!

The Notebook by  Nicholas Sparks
Genre: Romance

No matter what they say, everyone enjoys listening to their grandmothers talk about their ‘love story’ and how things happened in those days. The Notebook is one such achingly beautiful tale of Noah and Allie that will restore your faith in true love. It begins with Noah, a fairly old man, reading out a story to an Alzheimer’s patient living in a nursing home. It later turns out, the woman is his wife who seems to have forgotten everything about her husband and the story is their own! The tenderness of the story will surely melt your heart and leave you moist-eyed, so don’t forget to keep a box tissues handy.

The Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi

Genre: Fantasy Fiction

The Shiva Trilogy was the fastest selling book series in Indian publishing history and why not? It has mesmerizing characters and a storyline to keep you engrossed for several days. Even a reader with no prior knowledge of Indian Mythology is bound to enjoy the book. Shiva’s story in this book is the author’s fresh take on how he becomes a hero without having to be a God. Besides, with his charm and wit, Shiva subtly makes you like his character more than ever! Be sure to buy all three books together for it is next to impossible to wait between two books.

Windmills of the Gods by Sidney Sheldon
Genre: Mystery Thriller

As suggested by the New York Daily News, “If you want a novel you simply cannot put down, go to Sheldon”, Windmills of the Gods is one of the spellbinders from Sheldon’s works. How Mary Ashley’s comfortable and convenient life turns upside down when she is suddenly chosen as the American Ambassador to Romania by the newly elected President and her journey through and to it is all intriguing, heartbreaking, exciting and definitely nerve-wracking!

Be sure to read all these books (or at least one) this weekend and I’m sure you won’t regret it.
