Based on the true story of the “Black Hawk Down” incident that took place in 1993 in which 120 soldiers of the US troops were sent to the heart of Mogadishu, Somalia. Hollywood seems to put in a lot of effort and money in rescue missions set out for Mat Damon in several movies like Elysium, Greenzone, The Martian, Interstellar and the list goes on. But all jokes apart this movie happens to be a great depiction of one of the bloodiest battles in history. The story revolves around the rescue mission of Private James Ryan, who has already lost three brothers in world war II.A highly recommended gripping story.

4. Apocalypse Now (1979)

This movie tells the tale of the Vietnam war in which Captain Willard embarks on a risky mission to eliminate a deadly renegade colonel who happened to be a self proclaimed leader and had become a God figure for a tribe. The movie is loosely based on the very famous  Joseph Conrad’s 1898 novel “Heart of Darkness”. 5. Downfall (2004)

The story about the fall of the Third Reich. Just when the allied forces were closing in on the Nazi capital, Adolf Hitler and his men take shelter in a barricade they called the Furherbunker. The movie really puts people into perspective. This film although in German (Subtitles required) is quite famous among the English Speaking crowd and has given rise to a very popular Youtube video which shows Hitler yelling at his men in a room because things didn’t go his way. This movie is totally worth the 2 hours of subtitles.

Nothing spells “Inspiration” better than a good war movie. Because it is after a war movie when someone suddenly feels like joining the army for a brief while until reality hits them, while some take it seriously and end up joining the armed forces.-
