S.P.I.T Marathon 2018: Running for a cause

On the dawn of 4th February, enthusiastic and energetic youth gathered to run for a cause. The 6 km run commenced at Ramada Plaza near Juhu Beach at 7 am.

On the dawn of 4th February, enthusiastic and energetic youth gathered to run for a cause. The 6 km run commenced at Ramada Plaza near Juhu Beach at 7 am. Over 184 participants took part in the marathon including professional runners.

The top contenders battled to the finish line at Bhavans.

Eventually, all participants crossed the finish line by 8:30 am and were soon provided with healthy refreshments such as lemonade, bananas along with breakfast. Balaji Kamath emerged victorious bagging a prize pot of ₹7000 followed by Ashok Dangde. Darshan Biyani, Divya Rathod, claimed the top spot in SPIT and girls category respectively.

The Guest of Honours included, Mr Uday Mane, an S.P.I.T alumnus addressed the participants with an inspiring and heartwarming speech.Mr. Nisar Tamboli, DCP, Mumbai also boosted the spirits of the athletes.

Through the marathon, funds were raised for sponsoring the secondary education of underprivileged children.

“Participating in a marathon for the first time was really a good experience for me and what drove me was the noble cause”, quoted Harit Bandi, one of the participants.

The end of every marathon does not only ignite a new spark in you, it gives birth to an entirely new you.
