TEDx SPIT – Rebuild Creativity

For the very first time in the history of Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, the cultural fest – Udaan got the license to conduct a TEDx Talk. In the spirit of TEDx’s mission, “Ideas worth spreading”, the TEDx program helps communities, organizations and individuals produce TEDx-style events at the local level. The talk was hosted on February 8, 2018, at the S.P.J.I.M.R. Auditorium. The hall was booming with anticipation and witnessed remarkable enthusiasm and inspiring talks given by the jaw-dropping line-up of speakers.

Everyone lent their ears to Mr Manish Advani as the clock struck 4. A prodigious storyteller and a songwriter, Head of Marketing and PR at Mahindra SSG, enlisted some of the proficiencies which the future demanded. Next up was Robin Charausiya, Founder of Kranti, an NGO working towards spreading happiness and opportunities in homes of sex workers, so that they could lead non-stigmatized lives, focused on analyzing the purpose of our existence. Even though the event was all about rebuilding creativity, the organizers had arranged for an engaging classical dance performance to keep the audience entertained. Continuing into the wee hours of the evening, Ms Nidhika Bahl, official life coach of Ms Manushi Chillar, Miss World 2017, emphasized on recreating our lives and our relationships with the outside world in order to make this world a better place to live in.

Following Bahl, Mr Mohsin Memon, C.E.O. of MEM Corp., a gamer and a game designer emphasized on the fact that games have the ability to do more for humanity than we can imagine and have the potential to solve real-world problems.

The stage was next graced by Mr Swapan Rajdev, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder at Haptik further explained Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning and how future employment will not really be affected negatively due to AI. On the contrary, it will help automate many processes, helping personnel make the most of their time. Soon, Mr Anirudh Bhat’s composition, the Udaan Anthem, was recited.

Taking ahead the event, organizers presented Mr Max Fernandes, possessing a knack for adapting any possible role, an exhibit of which is his 15-year long career in the industry. Max talked about his ideologies pertaining to innovation and getting out of monotony. Not only was food for thought provided, but also culinary delights for the stomach were all taken care of.

Post dinner, talks continued with Ms Rashi Mal, a professionally trained actress, dancer and singer/songwriter and currently gearing up for her first Hindi featured film, enlightened and inspired the audience with her life journey, her struggles concluding hard work and perseverance are the only keys to success.

Lastly, the event was concluded with a talk by Mr Vikas Gupta, second runner-up of Bigg Boss season 11 and pioneer of ‘The Lost Boy Productions’ explained how at the end everything falls upon us and managing the “3 Litres” i.e. Love, Luck and Energy of our life is essential.

All in all the event concluded to its expected success when the spellbound audience left, all smiles, after having being inspired by the stories of self-made individuals who are role models of today. Surely the day’s interaction will aid them in being the role models of tomorrow. That’s what TEDx strives for – building leaders of tomorrow. And that’s precisely what was delivered by S.P.I.T. TEDx, setting an immense precedence for Udaan 2018.
